I have learnt a fair bit from BN506 in the last two weeks, I have been introduced to new theorists, such as Erik Erikson, and his theory on psychosocial development, and the 8 stages.  I have also been introduced to a new word "meta-communication", which involves all aspects of communication, I have alss learnt alot about emotional intelligence, and therapeutic communication and how we need to understand these concepts to communicate efficiently as a nurse to be.

When working with indivduals with cognitive impairments, i think it is important to consider the extent of their limitations. I feel its important that we dont make assumptions about their limitations as this could result in making them feel inferior.Once this information has been established we can then decide on approriate communication techniques.
