My name is NurseKeith and I've been a nurse since 1996 when I earned my Associates Degree. Since then, I've gone on to earn a BSN at a local university here in New England.

I originally went to school in Philadelphia in the early 80s, studying painting and printmaking and sculpture. After dropping out, I pursued a career as a massage therapist and yoga teacher, among other things (after spending some time hitch-hiking in Europe).

It's been deemed professional suicide for a nurse, but I've never worked in a hospital since graduation. My career has encompassed urban community health centers, home care, hospice, and specialty care management.

I'm relatively bilingual (English-Spanish) and love working with the Latino community. I also have special interest and experience in HIV/AIDS, mental health, addiction, diabetes, and end-of-life care.

I have maintained a blog called Digital Doorway (http://digitaldoorway.blogspot.com) since 2005 where I write about nursing, healthcare, and my own personal struggles with chronic illness. Please feel free to stop by and visit!
