A Registered Nurse (in the US, that is) has either a 2-year or 4-year college degree. She or he goes to a community college or undergraduate school and earns either an Associates Degree or a Bachelor's Degree, both of which carry the title of "RN". They are then licensed in their state by the Board of Registration in Nursing to practice as a nurse.
